Frequently Asked Questions

  • What services does the STAR Initiative provide?
The STAR Initiative offers a comprehensive range of services, including behavior analytic interventions, early intervention for developmental concerns, behavioral health support, and educational interventions. Our goal is to help children enhance their communication, social skills, and overall well-being, while also supporting families and educators with effective strategies.
  • Who is eligible for services through the STAR Initiative?
Children from birth to age five with developmental concerns or behavioral challenges are eligible for services. Referrals typically come from early learning center staff, healthcare providers, or parents who recognize the need for additional support. We tailor our services to the unique needs of each child and family.
  • How do you incorporate parents and teachers into the program?
Parents, teachers, and guardians are critical to the success of the STAR Initiative. We provide direct training and collaborate with both to ensure that strategies and interventions are consistently applied across different environments. This empowers families and educators to reinforce positive behavior and support the child’s growth.
  • What types of professionals make up the STAR team?
Our team is interdisciplinary, including a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), and a Behavioral Health Educator. Together, they address developmental and behavioral challenges from multiple perspectives, providing innovative, tailored solutions for each child and family.
  • How can I access services for my child?
To access our services, you can either speak with your child’s teacher or early learning center director for a referral, or contact us directly to discuss your child's needs. We offer services at participating early learning centers, at our office in the NCEF Wellness Center, and through in-home support when needed.
  • Are services available in multiple languages?
Yes, services through the STAR Initiative are available in both English and Spanish. If your family requires services in Creole, we can accommodate this with prior notice. Our goal is to ensure that every family has access to the support they need in a language they are comfortable with.
